WHAT IS YOUR WARDROBE PERSONALITY?
Uniquely Woman's regular Image Consultant and Style Expert Deborah Winter of www.styleconsultation.co.uk offers some valuable advice on how to identify your true wardrobe personality...
Sometimes people can struggle to buy clothes because they feel uncertain of their wardrobe personality. They may feel as though they should express themselves in a certain way because it is fashionable, when in fact it makes them feel uncomfortable. Clarifying your wardrobe personality can help to give you a clearer focus and make you feel more confident about who you are. Style analysis divides wardrobe personalities into four categories but it is certainly possible to be a mixture of different personalities and to change over time.
Dramatics opt for clothes that get them noticed. They have a strong definite image and are not afraid of making bold statements. A typical dramatic will be drawn to bold colours and striking combinations, they
may enjoy high fashion and looking funky. They embrace extremes and love to dress up one day and be completely casual the next but their main aim is to turn heads. Some dramatics enjoy designer labels but
many enjoy expressing their individuality by shopping in second hand shops and car boot sales. For dramatics, shopping for clothes is like hunting, the pursuit of that unique item is thrilling. Such dramatic tastes follow through into jewellery, accessories, hairstyles and make-up.
For a dramatic, fading into the background is not an option but they need to be careful not to give the wrong impression at formal occasions. At these times, they may need to make sure their appearance is conveying the right message. They may also have a tendency to spend lavishly and have wardrobes upon wardrobes of clothes.
Classics tend to be much more quietly self confident than their dramatic counterparts. Their choice of clothing can be conservative to reflect their reserved personalities, although some classics can be
highly dynamic and they utilize their classic demeanour to convey precision and strength. Classics have impeccable taste and aim for elegance rather than bold statements. They will often purchase
extremely expensive clothing that will last for years. Their look is timeless. They opt for clean lines, well-cut clothes and blended colours. People will often comment that they look expensive. Their
choice of jewellery is subtle and understated and so is their make-up and hair. Classics are immaculately groomed at all times and those around them eye them enviously in awe of their flawless appearance.
For a classic, dignity is everything because it helps them to feel in control. The thought of wearing a tracksuit fills them with horror and they will even look immaculate doing the gardening. They may sometimes feel over dressed as casual is not in their vocabulary and shopping can be frustrating when classic styles are nowhere to be found.
Luxurious romantics simply adore expressing their femininity. Romantics love to look attractive and rather than opt for clean lines and minimal
detail like their classic counterparts, they are attracted like magpies to soft luxurious fabrics, beading and detailing. Aesthetics are everything to these beautiful creatures and they are attracted to
anything that communicates luxury and expense. You can often smell a romantic before you can see them and only an expensive range of make-up will do. They have an inexhaustible budget for grooming and will think nothing of booking in for a manicure, pedicure and a facial on a regular basis. For a luxurious romantic, indulgence is the key to happiness but they must be careful not to overspend or overdo the
detail, perfume or make-up.
Artistic romantics however are creative and sensitive and express their flair through choosing ornate detailing, beautiful fabrics and textures. Their
appearance is more artistic than the luxurious
romantic. You will often find an artistic romantic in a haberdashers or an ethnic shop.
For a Natural, comfortable, practical clothing is of utmost important.Their personality is easy going, down to earth, friendly and frank. Naturals are not materialistic; they see formal clothes as too
restrictive and fussy accessories as pointless. A naturals wardrobe is minimal and practical and many live in jeans or tracksuit bottoms. They tend to be physical people and may lead very active lifestyles. Some naturals do not own a make-up bag or a jewellery box and their hair is in an easy to keep style.
Sometimes extreme naturals can lack the self-esteem to express themselves and often do not prioritise themselves as important enough to indulge and may be a
natural through self-neglect. Extreme naturals
need to be careful not to present themselves poorly in formal environments
It is important to accept your wardrobe identity and express who you really are but don't be afraid to change and reflect different facets of your personality if that is what you desire to do.
